Together in nature – pathway to stronger, closer family

It is hard to imagine a more effective means of bringing generations together than a nature vacation in our mobile age of disconnection and distraction by electronics.
Nature doesn’t have ring tones or deadlines. It provides the opportunity to escape your daily routine and enter a world of peace, beauty, and magic.
As you leave your screens and technology behind, Nature will awaken you and guide you back to each other. Getting outdoors can help both you and your child feel better, while giving you common ground for discovery and play.
You'll be together in a small group, in a remote place where it’s just you, the wildlife, the scenery, and the amazing memories you’ll make.
New to the camping game? Is it time to get back into it after a long break? Even if it's not your first camping trip, it can be challenging to pack your gear, find a campsite, and get out there, whether for a one-nighter or an extended trip.
I provide all necessary camping equipment, gourmet camping food, expert guidance and as much historical, geological and wildlife interpretation you can handle. I am attuned to the needs of all ages and will ensure that your family has a fun, exciting and worry-free adventure of a lifetime!
My goal is to empower clients with skills and knowledge so that they can be self-sufficient in the wilderness and undertake future trips of their own. As you become more comfortable with camping, you can branch out and discover the beauty of your state and national parks or one of many campgrounds across the country.
I recognize the powerful effect that several days spent exploring in nature can have on a person’s well-being. I am here to provide a safe and comfortable opportunity for you and your family to experience the magic of these amazing places first-hand, while having fun, make new friends, and expanding your comfort zones.
Every trip includes unique, daily hiking opportunities, nature site exploration & interpretation and, of course, relaxation whether it be leisurely near the lake, enjoying the sounds along the trail hiking or unwinding around a campfire.
Always feel free to contact me. If you are going to spend time in the woods with me, why not call and get to know me first. I am happy to chat about any questions you may have before booking a trip with me.

FAQ
What Is Provided?
We provide all the group gear, food, and guidance for each trip. Group gear includes tents/hammocks, cookware, stoves, first aid kit, water treatment, navigation, and permits. Hammocks or 2-person tents are available. Food menus are tailored for each trip based on the group’s dietary needs and preferences. Heather is well know for her backcountry meals; we will eat well, and delicious snacks are plentiful!
What Do I Need?
You will need personal gear, including clothing and hiking boots, headlamp, as well as a sleeping bag, and ground pad. A super detailed packing list will be provided upon registration. If you don’t already own the necessary items, we’ll provide descriptions, examples, and guidance on options for buying or you can rent them from me for additional charge.
Will This Be Safe?
Adventures in the wilderness have inherent risks, but we work to lessen those risks through preparation and education. For example, we’ll properly store our food at night, learn how to correctly operate camp stoves, stay together as a group, and prepare for a variety of weather conditions.
Will We Be In Shape Enough?
Don’t worry, this trip is all about enjoying the wilderness, it’s NOT about how quickly you move through it! We hike at a leisurely pace, enjoy the views (and snacks!), and support each other along the way. If you can walk/jog a 5K, that is a pretty good indication that you can do these trips. Generally, our day walks are rated easy to medium level, appropriate for kids and begginer level.
What Ages Are Appropriate For Kids?
There is no restriction on age. I had my daughter in a canoe and camping at one years of age. I understand that spending time in nature with your children is an ideal way to nurture family bonds, whether you're dealing with a fussy toddler or a recalcitrant teen. I want to offer this experience to as many people as possible.
If you’re unsure contact Heather and she will advise you what’s best.
Are There Shower Or Bathroom Facilities?
At the Deep Lake camp ground there are dry pit toilets. There are no showers facilities at the campground. There is a handpump for potable water.
Will We Comfortable?
If you follow the guidance provided with the detailed packing list, you should have everything you need to stay warm and dry, and to sleep well at night. As with any physical endeavor, you should anticipate some mild aches and pains – these just prove how much you have accomplished!
Can I Bring Alcohol?
You are welcome to bring your own as long as it is not in a glass container. I will offer a mulled wine at night after the kids are down for the Adults to wine down around the campfire and enjoy our time. On these trips, you certainly won’t need alcohol to have fun, connect with others, and relax! I will cut off anyone that is consuming too much alcohol.
